Electrostatic complementarity predicts CD2/LFA-3 complex topology

Similarity between the predicted [left; Ikemizu et al. (1999) PNAS 96, 4289-4294] and actual [right; Wang et al. (1999) Cell 97, 791-803] complexes of human CD2 (blue) and LFA-3 (red). The topology of the complex on the left was defined solely by maximizing electrostatic complementarity between the two interacting surfaces.
